INCOSPAR:- Indian National Committee for Space Research

Indian National Committee for Space Research (INCOSPAR). Jawaharlal Nehru, the first Prime Minister of India, established this committee in 1962. The establishment was done under Dr. Vikram Sarabhai to formulate the Indian Space Program. The committee was then a part of the Tata Institute of Fundamental Research which was led by M. G. K. Menon. In the initial team of rocket engineer forming the INCOSPAR, Dr. A. P. J. Abdul Kalam, who later became the President of India, was also present. The responsibilities of the Department of Atomic Energy in space science and research were taken by the committee. The establishment of the Thumba Equatorial Rocket Launching Station (TERLS) at Thumba, on the southern tip of India, was also decided by the committee. In 1969, the INCOSPAR grew into ISRO (Indian Space Research Organization), which is the space agency of the Indian Government, headquartered in the city of Bangalore.
