NABARD:- National Bank for Agricultural and Rural Development
NABARD is the National Bank of Agriculture and Rural Development. It is a unique development financial institution which addresses the issues of the providence of undivided attention, forceful direction and pointed focus to credit-related issues linked with rural development. NABARD which came into existence on 12 July 1982 is fully owned by the Government of India. Headquartered in Mumbai, NABARD has 91 regional offices all over India. It is chaired by Dr. Harsh Kumar Bhanwala and is the successor to Agricultural Refinance and Development Cooperation.
It promotes sustainable and equitable agriculture and rural development through participative interventions, technology, and innovations to secure prosperity. NABARD aims its initiative at building an empowered and financially inclusive rural India through three departments which can be categorized into Financial, Developmental, and Supervision. NABARD has played an important role in grounding social innovations and enterprises in rural hinterlands. It reaches out to allied economies and promotes integrated development and serves as a financing agency for the institutions providing investment for promoting developmental activities in rural India.
