TNT:- Trinitrotoluene
TNT stands for Trinitrotoluene. It is more specifically known as 2, 4, 6 – Trinitrotoluene. It is a chemical compound with the formula C6H2 (NO2)3CH3. It is a yellow solid which is sometimes used as a solid reagent in some reactions but is more famous as an explosive substance with extremely convenient handling properties. The measure of the power of Bombs and explosives are now measured in terms of the number of times the yield of TNT. Therefore, yield of TNT is used as a unit to measure the above. In chemistry, TNT is used to generate charge transfer salts. TNT was first prepared in 1863 by German chemist Julius Wilbrand and originally used as a yellow dye. Its explosive potential was discovered much later as it was difficult to detonate and also less powerful than its alternatives. Its explosive properties were first discovered by another German chemist, Carl Häussermann, in 1891.
