TRAI:- Telecom Regulatory Authority of India

TRAI stands for Telecom Regulatory Authority of India. The Telecom Regulatory Authority of India is a statutory body set up by the Government of India under section 3 of the Telecom Regulatory Authority of India Act, 1997. It is a regulator of the Telecommunication Sectors of India. It has 3-5 members at any time. It has one chairperson, not more than two full-time members, and no more than 2 part-time members. The current Chairman of TRAI is Mr. Ram Sewak Sharma. TRAI’s mission is to create and nurture conditions for growth of telecommunications in India to enable the country to have a leading role in the emerging global information society. One of its main objectives is to make sure that the market scenario is fair, and a level playing field is provided to the competitors and in turn, facilitating fair competition in the market. It has regularly issued orders on various subjects like tariffs, interconnections, quality of service, DTH, MNP, etc.
