NLFT:- National Liberation Front of Tripura
NLFT stands for National Liberation Front of Tripura is a nationalist organization based in the state of Tripura in India. It has roughly 550 to 850 members as a part of it. It has been active since the year 1989 till present. The ideology of NLFT is Tripuri nationalism, Separatism, and Christian extremism. It wants to separate from India and establish an independent state of Tripura. Its manifesto says that they want to expand what they describe as the Kingdom of God and Jesus Christ in Tripura. It is currently designated as a terrorist organization in India. The Baptist Church of Tripura was first set up by missionaries from New Zealand in the years around 1940. Despite the consistent efforts, until the 1980s, only a few thousand people in Tripura had converted to Christianity. In the aftermath of one of the worst ethnic riots, the NLFT was established in the year 1989 with the backing of the Baptist Church of Tripura. The NLFT has been described as an organization engaged in terrorist violence motivated by its Christian beliefs. It is listed as a terrorist organization in the Prevention of Terrorism Act, 2002.
