IAPPD:- Indian Association of Parliamentarians on Population and Development
IAPPD stands for the Indian Association of Parliamentarians on Population and Development. It is a non-governmental organization established in the year 1978. It aims at controlling and impeding the pace of population growth for an easier, faster and more efficient course of development in order to ensure an overall progress in the quality of lives of people and to maintain a perfect balance between population and development. It agrees to the fact that the programmes on stabilizing the population will not succeed unless people widely accept the notion of a small family. It ensures the participation of parliamentarians in the local level planning of population control, to introduce effective means of decentralized planning and policy execution. IAPPD aims to spread awareness among the public for an ideal small family through campaigns. The two wings of IAPPD are Sat Paul Mittal Centre for Parliamentarians and the Department of drugs/substance abuse and HIV/AIDS.
