IRAS:- INFRARED ASTRONOMICAL SATELLITE

The Infrared Astronomical Satellite (IRAS) was the first-since forever space telescope to play out an overview of the whole night sky at infrared wavelengths.

Propelled on 25 January 1983, its central goal endured ten months. The telescope was a joint venture of the United States (NASA), the Netherlands (NIVR), and the United Kingdom (SERC). More than 250,000 infrared sources were seen at 12, 25, 60, and 100 micrometers wavelengths.

Support for the preparing and investigation of information from IRAS was contributed from the Infrared Processing and Analysis Center at the California Institute of Technology. At present, the Infrared Science Archive at IPAC holds the IRAS archive.
