KAADC :- Karbi Anglong Autonomous District Council
Karbi Anlong Autonomous Council (KAAC). It was formed in the year 1940 by many of the Karbi youths. Karbi Angglong is a district in the north-eastern side of Assam. Its headquarters are located in Diphu, Assam. It was constituted under the Sixth Schedule of the Indian Constitution with the objective for the development of the Karbi people. British looked upon this area differently as the Government of India Act, 1919, declared these areas as the backward tract and Government of India Act, 1935, declared them as fully and partially excluded areas. Even after independence in 1947, the Indian Constitution never changed the Karbi people’s status of backward and excluded areas. Then in the year, 1952, KAAC was formally inaugurated by the then chief minister of Assam, Late Bishnuram Medhi. Under the Memorandum of Understanding (M.O.U.), the previous name Karbi Anglong District Council (KADC) was renamed as Karbi Anglong Autonomous Council (KAAC).
