Lenz’s law simply stated that the direction of the current running in the conductor by changing its magnetic field such that the magnetic field created bythe induced current which opposes the initial changing the magnetic field which is produced by it. Lenz’s law is mainly based on Faraday’s law of induction as Faraday’s law states that a changing magnetic field will induced a current in a conductor and on other hand Lenz’s law states that the direction of the induced current which opposes the initial changing the magnetic field which produced it. This change in magnetic field can only be caused by changing magnetic field strength by moving a magnet towards or away from that coil as well as moving the coil into or outward the magnetic field. In simple words or in the perspective of physics it is said that the magnitude of the EMF induced in a particular circuit is proportional to the rate of flux.
Linking Lenz’s law and conservation of energy.
They are interconnected by their process as in conservation of energy the direction of the current induced through Lenz’s law which creates a magnetic field that created it. It is also mentioned that Lenz’s law is a consequence of the law of conservation of energy. Along with this law of conservation of energy Lenz’s law also obeys Newton’s third law of motion which is every action has an equal and opposite reaction it means if the induced current creates a magnetic field which is equal and opposite to the direction of the magnetic field which creates it and after that it can resist the change in magnetic field and now according to Lenz’s law this magnetic field created will oppose the decrease in flux through the coil. To find the direction of current or magnetic field use the right thumb rule which states that the fingers of the right hand are placed around the wire so that the thumb will point in the direction of current flow.
What are the applications?
Every law has their implications as well as applications just like that Lenz’s law also have some of it’s application as it can be used to understand the concept of stored magnetic energy in an inductor. This law also states that the induced EMF and the change in flux have opposite signs which provide a physical interpretation of the choice and this law is also applied to electric generators.
