NCB:- Narcotics Control Bureau

NCB stands for Narcotics Control Bureau is an agency in India that looks after the enforcement of laws related to drugs, it’s trafficking and abuse of other illegal substances. It also aims to stop the smuggling of drugs to foreign countries. It operates in India with an employee strength of about 1000 people. It was formed 31 years ago on 17th March 1986. The parent agency is the ministry of home affairs and its headquarters are situated in Delhi. It also has offices in various other cities divided into zones and subzones. It was formed to enable the successful implementation of The Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Act, 1985 and Drugs and Cosmetics act, 1940. It also looks after fighting the violation of thacts by Prevention of Illicit Trafficking in Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Act, 1988. The functioning is carried out through various ministries, organizations, and departments of the government. Officers for this organization are either directly recruited or are taken from Parliamentary forces, Indian Revenue Service and Indian Police Service.
