RAW:- Research and Analysis Wing
RAW stands for Research and Analysis Wing. It was formed on 21st September 1968. It is headquartered in New Delhi, India. The motto is “धर्मो रक्षति रक्षित:” which translates in English to “The law protects when it is protected”. The minister responsible is Narendra Modi, the current Prime Minister of India. It is India’s foreign intelligence agency. It was established following the intelligence failures of the Sino-Indian war. This persuaded the Government to create a specialized, independent agency dedicated to foreign intelligence gathering both the domestic and foreign intelligence that had been under the purview of the Intelligence Bureau. Its objectives include monitoring the political, economic, military, and scientific developments in countries that have a direct bearing on India’s national security along with the formulation of its foreign policy. It also includes molding international public opinion and influencing foreign governments with help of the strong and vibrant Indian diaspora. Along with this, the RAW is responsible for covert operations to safeguard the National interests of India. It also carries anti-terror operations along with neutralizing terror elements posing a threat to the country.
