RDX:- Research Development Explosive
RDX stands for Research Development Explosive. It is an organic compound. It is widely used as an explosive. It is a white solid without any smell or taste. As a chemical, it is classified as a nitramide, which is a chemical similar to HMX. It was used widely in World War II and even today is commonly used in military applications. It is a more energetic explosive than TNT. It is many a time used in mixtures. Mostly is used with other explosives and plasticizers or phlegmatizer (desensitizers). It is used as an explosive agent in the C-4 plastic explosive. It is stable in its storage. It is also known to be one of the most brisant and energetic military high explosives. It is also known as cyclonite, T4, hexogen. Chemically, it is known as cyclotrimethylenetrinitramine. It was named Research Development Explosive by Britain for security reasons.
