UNCHS:- United Nations Commission on Human Settlements
The full form of UNCHS stands for United Nations Commission on Human Settlements which is a part of the programme United Nations Human Settlements (UN-Habitat). The United Nations Commission on Human Settlements was created with an aim to encourage the developments of human settlements both socially and environmentally in Kenya. Maimunah Mohd Sharif is the executive director of UN-Habitat. The United Nations Commission on Human Settlements acts as the governing body of the United Nations Center for Human Settlements (Habitat) which includes 58 states. The Commission met from 12 to 16 February in Nairobi at the central headquarters. In 16th February, the Eighteenth session of the UNCHS approved the Habitat’s work programme and budget of nearly $24 million for the biennium of 2002 – 2003. The measures of the new Executive Director, Anna Tibaijuka, was welcomed by the Eighteenth – session to continue the process of revitalization and endorsed her decision to further refine the organizational structure.
