UPU:- Universal Postal Union
The Universal Postal Union is the acronym of UPU and in French language, it is termed as Union Postale universelle. Universal Postal Union is set up by the Treaty of Bern of 1874. It is considered to be a specialized agency of the United Nations which is also known as UN that coordinates postal policies among the member of nations and in addition to the worldwide postal system. The UPU consists of four bodies which include the consisting of the Congress, the Council of Administration or CA, the Postal Operations Council or POC and the International Bureau or IB. It also holds the responsibility of the Telematics and Express Mail Service or EMS cooperatives. Each of the members of the Universal Postal Union must agree to the same terms and conditions for conducting international postal duties. The headquarters of UPU is situated in Bern which is in Switzerland.
