The radioactive animals of Chernobyl

Wolves – Thriving in the exclusion zone, with larger packs and unusual behavior. –

Boars – Show higher radiation levels due to foraging in contaminated soil. –

Birds – Some species, like barn swallows, exhibit physical deformities such as misshapen beaks. –

Elk and Deer – Populations have grown due to the absence of humans despite radiation exposure. –

Wild Horses (Przewalski's Horses) – Reintroduced species, surviving in radioactive environments. –

Fish in Rivers and Lakes – Catfish in the Pripyat River have grown unusually large, though radiation impact is debated. –

Insects – Some show genetic mutations, affecting wing shape and development. –

Brown Bears – Spotted near the reactor zone, suggesting wildlife is reclaiming the area. –

Foxes – Known for approaching humans, scavenging and displaying bold behavior. –

Feral Dogs – Descendants of abandoned pets, some show signs of radiation exposure but continue to breed.
