Common things that could raise your cancer risk

Areca nut - Much like coffee, the areca nut is a stimulant. However, it is chewed. There is a link between chewing this nut and an increased risk of oral cancer.

Wood dust - Wood dust is carcinogenic. If you're working around wood, be sure to wear a mask. The ingestion of wood dust is associated with nasal cancer.

Hot tea - If you like a cup of tea to keep you going, make sure you let it cool down first. Very hot tea is associated with esophagus cancer.

Alcohol - It is sad but true–alcohol is bad for you in almost every way. Researchers have predicted that 6% of yearly cancer deaths worldwide are due directly to drinking.

Contraceptives - Researchers have found contraceptive pills increase women’s chances of developing cervical cancer.

Shopping receipts - In 2010, a study found that most shopping receipts use a chemical called bisphenol-A. It's a hormone chemical with links to an increased risk of cancer. 

Implants - There is a slightly higher risk of cancer for people with implants. They increase the risk of anaplastic large-cell lymphomas.

Betel quid - Betel quid is a leaf that comes from Asia. It is chewed with areca nut. Whether there is tobacco in the mix or not, it still increases the risk of oral cancer.

Sunbeds - Any kind of sun bed will increase your exposure to UV light. When you are exposed so strongly, you increase your risk of skin cancer and cataracts.

Sleeplessness - Having less than seven or eight hours of sleep a night significantly increases your risk of cancer.
