The best AI and robot movies of all time

'Star Wars' franchise - Ever since 'Star Wars: A New Hope (Episode IV)' in 1977, C-3PO and R2-D2 have been making us dream of having robot friends like them.

'The Terminator' (1984) - The movie and its sequels brings us the best and worst of AI. The man versus machine narrative drives the movie, but there's hope as not all machines are evil.

'Star Trek: Generations' (1994) - Lieutenant Commander Data (Brent Spiner) was not your average android. He had an emotion chip in his brain and even owned a pet cat named Spot.

'Chappie' (2015) - A police robot is stolen by a criminal gang. The robot develops feelings and the personality of a child.

'Robots' (2005) - Maybe this is how a world of robots would look like. Though these look very human-like!

'Transcendence' (2014) - Dr. Will Caster (Johnny Depp), the world's most important authority on AI, gets personally involved in the machine he's developing.

'Interstellar' (2014) - Matthew McConaughey's character, Cooper, has a special relationship (non-romantic) with a marine robot called TARS.

'Transformers' (2007) - Robots versus robots. AI can turn good or bad, but robots turning into vehicles is always fun to watch!

'Robot & Frank' (2012) - Frank (Frank Langela) is an old ex con who teaches his care robot to pick locks and commit burglaries with him.

'The Machine' (2013) - An attractive and deadly self-aware android soldier is created amid a cold war between the UK and China.
